1974 Donzi GT-21 Chevrolet 350 HP in Detroit, MI

This is an extremely hard to find 1974 Donzi GT-21 22 foot speed boat with a large beam of 8 feet. It handles the chop & slop so well, it is unbelieveable. So it great to be able to offer this wonderful retro near mint Yellow & White 22 Foot cruiser that cuts thru the waves like nothing I have ever seen. It is great to take your sweetie for ice cream or dinner at the club. The 8 foot beam gives this one so much stability it barely even rocks when the big boys go from one side to the other. The hull on this one like most Classic Donzi's are rock solid and this one cuts thru the waves like a much much larger boat. The GT-21 Donzi is considered one of the very best designed vessels for just taking an early morning, afternoon,or even late evening cruise & not being afraid of what condition the water is in. This beauty handles almost any water conditions you can throw at it. I am told that the this GT is 2 or 3 owner & it looks like each owner has taken meticulous care of this beauty. We have taken it on a 40 mile shakedown cruise and also have run it everyday since. Still running on the 40 gallons of gas I put into it a week ago. Fantastic fuel mileage. Cranks up everytime. The boats hour meter is showing a remarkabley low 444 hours. The color is a soft yellow with white deck & yellow center stripe. Condition of the original Gel is very good and has just minor fading which we have enhanced with a complete buff and wax job. The interior is in excellant condition in a deep retro orange color redone in December 2010. This is why we all call the boat the Orange Julius! Also there is full outdoor matching carpet in the cockpit area. The hull looks great and has black bottom paint for non fouling running in fresh water or salt! The windshield acts like a diverter of the wind & is very dark, almost black The windshield shows age, but no major cracks seen. We have tried to check all the accesories and they work great,even the horn blows like a fog horn. There is a depth finder that is not picking up because it has lost it grip in the hull but we are trying to have that fixed. Some of the extras on this Donzi that you may not normally see are quality items like ship to shore radio, trim tabs, glove box, side cabinets for storage, front ski locker, morse throttle control, thru hull exhaust, digital depth finder, bilge HALON fire extinguisher system, twin 1000 cranking amps batteries w/2 way switch, anti fouling bottom paint, closed cooling system for running in salt water without affecting your engine interior surfaces. The engine looks, runs, & performs well above expectations. In the very roomy engine compartment there is also a marine Holley 4 barrel carb updated electronics and high performance MSD ignition system. Power tilt & hydraulic trim tabs are fully functional & work great.The bilge area is extremely clean & you can almost eat off it. There is a large full boat cover also. I would like to see a cockpit cover to protect the wonderful interior and that can be accomplished at a small additional fee if the winner wishes. There is a stainless steel rare Ultra Volvo prop that can sell for as much as $500, it has a very hard to find 26" pitch that really sets this boat on it's way. She will cruise between 25 Mph to 50 Mph which is a pleasure at any of those speeds. It almost drives itself. I would not hesitate to let even an unexperienced Boat Driver have the wheel of this one. I have been around a lot of Donzi's but this one seems to be everyones favorite from the 40 year olds to the 70 year olds & even the 5 year olds because of that wonderful beam and all the room. !As far as conditon the hull is a solid 8.0, the gel color is also 8, the interior is a 10, windshield 5.0, engine is strong 9 as is the transom assembly and the Volvo drive. The trailer is a single axle and is useful but not extremely pretty.
